Know your inputs

Measure first.
Estimate with context.

Gather your room measurements and the coverage stated on your product label. Choose a calculator, check the units and use the result to prepare your shopping list.

A material estimate depends on your surface, product and layout. Each tool explains its assumptions so you can adjust the numbers for your project.

Calculator questions.

What can I calculate here?

Estimate paint quantities or the area and box count for rectangular flooring projects. Each calculator explains its required measurements.

Can I switch between imperial and metric units?

Yes. The tools convert the current measurements when you change units. Make sure your product coverage is expressed in the unit shown in the calculator.

Where do I find product coverage?

Check the paint label or flooring box. Use paint coverage per coat and flooring coverage per box for the specific product you plan to buy.

What does the allowance mean?

It adds an editable percentage to the estimate. Set it according to your product, surface and layout rather than assuming one percentage suits every project.

Should I buy exactly the result?

Check your measurements and product instructions first. Flooring results round up to whole boxes. For paint, round up to the package sizes sold by your chosen supplier.
